First things first, I want to wish the happiest of birthdays to the two greatest bosses anyone could ask for, Leslie Duncan Blake and Stacey Day. It’s really a privilege and honor to work here at Duncan/Day with such a great team in an environment that is truly unique.

Twenty-seven years ago today, Leslie Duncan Blake and Stacey Day joined forces to create an organization the likes of which the world had never seen! A crude mixture of ink, coffee, hair spray and a desire to always meet client expectations, Duncan/Day has flourished over past quarter century.

While I wasn’t around for the company’s launch, I can say with full confidence that the secret to the company’s sustained success is the combination of the dynamic personalities of Stacey and Leslie.

They’re a modern day Laverne and Shirley. A 21st Century Han Solo and Chewbacca. The Batman and Robin of advertising and marketing.

“What are you doing? Get back to work,” replied Leslie when I asked which fictional duo she thought she and Stacey most resembled.

While Stacey and Leslie’s commitment to providing clients with creative communications solutions has remained unchanged over the years, a lot of things have changed since 1986, for better or for worse:

No. 1 Song on Jan. 28:
“Thrift Shop” by Macklemore feat. Ryan Lewis (2013)
“That’s What Friends Are For” by Dionne & Friends (1986)
Verdict: A resounding victory for 2013 here.

No. 1 Movie on Jan. 28:
“Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters” (2013)
“The Color Purple” (1986)
Verdict: 1986 evens it up.

Verdict: 2013 takes it home.
